About Us

Founded by Bick Goss in 1999, MMTL has been nurturing new writers for the Musical Theatre by presenting their works in early stages. MMTL presented Pulitzer Prize and Tony® Award Winning Next to Normal, under the title of Feeling Electric by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey, Others shows include It Shoulda Been You by Barbara Anselmi, directed by David Hyde Pierce and starring Tyne Daly at George Street Playhouse, Jerry Bock Award winning Calvin Berger by Barry Wyner, with Kathleen Marshall directing at George Street, available on Sh-K-Boom Recordings and licensed by Tams-Witmark Musical Library. Drama Desk Nominee, Kleban Prize winner Wanda’s World by Beth Falcone and Eric Weinberger moved to the 45th Street Theatre directed by Lynn Taylor Corbett and Jerry Bock prize winners Aron Acurso and Jill Abramovitz for The Dogs of Pripyat, presented at National Allianice for Musical Theaters. Other writers with work presented at Musical Mondays include Bobby Lopez and Jeff Marx, creators of Avenue Q, and Amanda Green (Hands on a Hardbody, Bring it On) and Gretchen Creyer and Nancy Ford (I’m Getting My Act Together and Taking it on the Road.) MMTL develops shows through a series of private readings prior to public performance under the supervision of Producing Artistic Director Frank Evans. MMTL presents at the Snapple Theater Center at 50th and Broadway. Musical Mondays has attracted directors John Rando (Urinetown) and Karen Lynn Carpenter (Love, Loss and What I Wore.)
